FEGLI Rates: Age Multiplication Factor

Federal employees should review their FEGLI Rates to make sure they are getting the most for their life insurance payments. Federal employees under age 45 covered under FEGLI Basic (basic federal life insurance coverage) automatically have extra coverage without paying any additional premium. This extra coverage increases the amount of FEGLI Basic insurance payable at the time of your death if you die before age 45.

To determine the amount of the FEGLI extra benefit, multiply your FEGLI Basic Insurance Amount by the appropriate age multiplication factor and FEGLI Rates as follows:
